Wood Inset Text
Summary:
Creating a wood inset text effect is a great way to enhance your graphic design projects. In this tutorial, we'll walk through the steps needed to create this inset effect. The same effect can also be used for line art and designs as well; not only text.
Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Open a wood texture image in Photoshop that you want to add your inset text over.
2. Select the Type tool and type something over the text.
3. Select the Magic Wand tool and click the text to select it.

4. Click the Eye icon for the Type layer to hide it from view.
5. Click the layer below with the wood photo so that it is the active layer.
6. You should now have the text selection still active, but you have the wood layer as your active layer.

7. Click Ctrl+C to copy the selection.
8. Click Ctrl+V to paste the wood text onto a new layer (it should paste right in the same place, so you won't see the copied text selection yet).
9. Goto Image > Adjustmets > Brightness/Contrast. Adjust the Brightness slider to the left to darken the wood text. Click OK.

10. Right click the copied wood texture text in the layers palette. Select "Blending Options" from the pop-up list.
11. Set the properties for "Inner Shadow" to the following:

12. Click OK and you should have your wood inset text.
