Intersecting Type
Summary:
A stylistic approach to text can give off a sophisticated appearance. One way of accomplishing this is through the use of intersecting type. The best font to use for this type of effect is cursive style fonts. In this tutorial, we'll show you how to intersect 3D style cursive typography.
Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Open a New Document in Photoshop. Set height/width to 500x500 px.
2. Select the Type Tool, then type two different letters. Each letter on its own layer.
3. For this tutorial, we'll type the letters Y and C. So we have two layers, the "Y Layer" and the "C Layer".

4. Right click "Y Layer" from the layers palette and choose "Rasterize Layer" from the pop-up list.
5. Repeat the same thing for the "C Layer". Rasterize it.
6. Select the Move Tool and move the letters so that they are overlapping each other.

7. Right click the "Y Layer" from the layers palette. Select "Blending Options" from the pop-up list.
8. Set the properties for "Bevel and Emboss" to the following:

9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for the "C Layer".
10. When you are done changing the Blending Option properties, your type should look like the following:

11. From the layers palette, click to highlight the "Y Layer". Then slide the opacity slider to the left so you can see "C Layer" underneath.

12. Select the Eraser tool and choose an appropriate brush size. Zoom in and erase the section of the "Y Layer" that is overlapping the "C Layer".

13. When you are done, you should have your intersecting type.
