Hanging Tile Photo

There are times where you might want to add an artistic touch to your website or graphic design project. What better way than to use a hanging tile photo. In this Photoshop tutorial, we will learn how to draw and create a hanging tile with a photo imprint on it.
Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Open a New Document in Photoshop. Set the height to 280 px and width to 230 px.
2. Create a new layer. Name the layer "Tile".
3. Select the Rectangular Marquee tool and create a square selection at the bottom of the canvas.
4. Use the Paint Bucket tool and fill in the square selection with any color.
5. Press Ctrl+D to deselect.

6. Right click the "Tile" layer from the layers palette. Choose "Blending Options" from the pop-up list.
7. Set the properties for "Drop Shadow" to the following:

8. Set the properties for "Bevel and Emboss" to the following:

9. Set the properties for "Gradient Overlay" to the following:
(Note: The color scheme used in this gradient was Hex Code: DBC75F to F2E8B7 to DBC75F)

10. Create a new layer above the "Tile" layer. Name this layer "Nail".
11. Select the Eliptical Marquee tool. Create a circle selection above the tile to represent the head of a nail.
12. Use the Paint Bucket to fill this circle with a grey color.

13. Click Ctrl+T to enter Free Transform mode. Use the shape handles to tilt and squash the head of the nail to give it an oval perspective shape.

14. Right click the "Nail" layer from the layers palette. Choose "Blending Options" from the pop-up list.
15. Set the properties for "Bevel and Emboss" to the following:

16. Set the properties for "Gradient Overlay" to the following:
(Note: The gradient is a dark grey to light grey)

17. Create a new layer below the "Nail" layer. Name this new layer "Spike".
18. Select the Polygonal Lasso tool. Create a selection shape for the spike of the nail.
19. Use the Paint Bucket tool and fill in the selection with a grey color.

20. Right click the "Spike" layer from the layers palette. Choose "Blending Options" from the pop-up list.

23. Create a new layer below the "Spike" layer. Name this new layer "Hole".
24. Select the Eliptical Marquee tool. Create a small circle selection at the base of the spike.
25. Use the Paint Bucket tool and fill in this circle selection with black.

26. Create a new layer below all the other layers. Name this new layer "Thread".
27. Select the Polygonal Lasso tool and create a thin selection to represent the thread holding up the tile.
28. Use the Paint Bucket tool and fill in the thread shaped selection with a brown thread color.

29. Right click the "Thread" layer from the layers palette. Choose "Blending Options" from the pop-up list.
30. Set the properties for "Drop Shadow" to the following:

31. Create a new layer above all the other layers. Name this new layer "Photo".
32. Paste your photo that you want on your tile. Click Ctrl+T to enter Free Transform mode and use the shape handles to resize and position the photo over the tile.

33. Right click the "Photo" layer from the layers palette. Choose "Blending Options" from the pop-up list.
34. Set the properties for "Drop Shadow" to the following:

35. Set the properties for "Outer Glow" to the following:
(Note: The color used in this outer glow was Hex Code: EBD56D)

36. Click OK and you should now have your Hanging Tile Photo.

(Optional: Find a wallpaper pattern or print and paste it onto the Background layer to give a better illusion of a hanging tile on a wall)
