Faded Text Over Photos

A great way to enhance a photo is to add text. What's even better is text that fades to transparency so that more of the photo can be seen underneath. In this Photoshop tutorial, we will learn how to apply a transparent text fade over a photograph.
Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Open the photograph that you want the faded text to go over.
2. Choose white as your foreground color.
3. Select the Type Tool. Choose a font. Type something onto a new layer over your photograph layer.
4. Click the "Add Vector Mask" button in the Layers Palette.
5. This will create a mask on the layer with the text.
6. Select the Gradient tool. Make sure the gradient is set to it's default of black to white.
7. Click and drag downward on the canvas, over the text.
8. The result should be a faded text over the photograph. This is a great technique for graphic design and advertising design.
