Create a Book
Summary:
In this Photoshop tutorial, we will learn how to draw and create an old book from scratch. What better way than to use a book to do show off your product or ideas. Simply follow the tutorial, then you have your book done and you can paste whatever title you want on it afterwards.
Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Open a New Document in Photoshop. Set height/width to 300x300.
2. Create a new layer. Name it "Cover". Use the Pen Tool to draw the shape of the books cover as shown below:

3. With the Path Selection Tool selected, right click the path. Click "Make Selection". Accept defaults and click OK.
4. Choose a color for the book and fill in the selection with the Paint Bucket Tool.

5. Create a new layer below the "Cover" layer. Name this new layer "Back". Use the Pen Tool to draw the shape for the back/bottom of the book as shown below:

6. With the Path Selection Tool selected, right click the path. Click "Make Selection". Accept defaults and click OK.
7. Using the same color, fill in the selection with the Paint Bucket Tool.

8. Create a new layer between the "Cover" layer and the "Back" layer. Name this layer "Paper".
9. Use the Pen Tool to draw the shape of the paper as shown below:

10. With the Path Selection Tool selected, right click the path. Click "Make Selection". Accept defaults and click OK.
11. Choose white or off-white color for the paper, fill in the selection with the Paint Bucket Tool.

12. Create a new layer between the "Back" layer and the "Paper" layer. Name this layer "Shadow".
13. Choose a darker value color of your books color. Using the Brush tool, color in the corner section of the book as shown below:

14. Now merge all 4 layers (Cover, Paper, Shadow, and Back). Name this merged layer "Book".
15. Create a new layer below the "Book" layer. Name this layer "Book Shadow".
16. Use the Pen Tool to draw the shape for the shadow of the book as shown below:

17. With the Path Selection Tool selected, right click the path. Click "Make Selection". Accept defaults and click OK.
18. Choose a dark grey or black color for the book shadow and fill in the selection with the Paint Bucket Tool.

19. Click Ctrl+D to deselect.
20. With the "Book Shadow" layer active, goto Filter > Blur > Gausian Blur. Set the Radius amount to a very small number to give the shadow the slightest amount of blur.
21. You should now have created your book!

22. Optional: You can now add text and use the transform tools to add the text to the cover of the book if you want.
